"Significant progress made in Qatar" said by us envoy

The US and the Afghan Taliban have made "significant progress" in talks aimed at ending the 17-year-old conflict in Afghanistan, the US envoy has said. In a series of tweets, Zalmay Khalilzad did not give details but said the unprecedented six days of talks in Qatar were "more productive than they have been in the past". He said he was on his way to Kabul to consult Afghan government officials. Earlier, Taliban sources said the two sides had finalised a draft agreement. The deal calls for a withdrawal of foreign forces in return for assurances that al-Qaeda and the Islamic State (IS) group will not be allowed to use Afghanistan as a base, the sources said.  UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA MERIT LIST IS OUT

The Management of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka(UNN) has released the admission list for the 2018/2019 academic session. This list contains the list of candidates who have been offered provisional admission after being tested by the UTME and Post-UTME conducted by the school.
All candidates who participated in the Post-UTME examination conducted by the school are advised to proceed to check their admission status to know if they have been offered admission into the institution. If you choose UNN as your first choice institution in the 2018 UTME, then this article is for you.

  1. Go to UNN admission status checking portal at http://www.unn.edu.ng/20182019-primary-admission-list-click-to-view-more/
  2. Enter your UTME number and Surname in the required columns to login.
  3. On the next page, click on ‘Check Admission Status’.
After checking your admission status on UNN portal, you are required to proceed to JAMB CAPS portal to accept/decline the admission offer.

  1. Open your phone browser (Google Chrome is preferable).
  2. Visit the jamb portal by visiting  https://www.jamb.org.ng
  3. Click on “Create e-facility Account/Login“
  4. A page will be displayed to you. Enter your email address and Password and click Login.
  5. From the list of menus, click on “Check UTME/DE Admission Status on CAPS“. You will be redirected to JAMB CAPS portal.
  6. By the left side of the page, select “Admission Status“. Now you need to change your mobile browser to desktop view.
  7. From the menu button on your Chrome browser, tick the “Request desktop site”.
  8. Your details including Jamb score, institution, date of birth and admission status will be displayed to you.
  9. If you have been given admitted on JAMB CAPS portal, then accept the admission.
  10. If the institution and course space is blank or you have not been offered admission then don’t click on accept admission. Just keep checking back.
INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES OFFERED PROVISIONAL ADMISSION FOR THE 2018/2019 ACADEMIC SESSION
Candidates offered provisional admission are required to adopt the following guidelines to regularize their acceptance of the offer:
  • Visit the JAMB Portal and accept your admission on CAPS by clicking “Accept Admission”. Candidates who fail to accept their admission on JAMB CAPS would not be issued JAMB Admission Letter and would be deemed as not admitted.
  • Visit the University of Nigeria website (unn.edu.ng) or portal (unnportal.edu.ng), log in your JAMB Registration number to generate and download a Payment Invoice which contains a Remitta number, the invoice will enable you to make payment at any Commercial Bank.
  • With the Payment Invoice, the candidate is requested to pay Twenty Five Thousand Naira Only (N25, 000.00) acceptance fee. Ensure that the Invoice number is keyed in appropriately at the Bank and obtain a confirmation slip containing your Confirmation number and Invoice number.
  • Visit the University of Nigeria website (unn.edu.ng) or portal (unnportal.edu.ng) again and login your JAMB Registration Number, the Confirmation Number and Invoice Number, then print the Admission slip and complete the Acceptance Form online.
  • Proceed with other fee payments and registration as indicated on the University of Nigeria website.
